2 the Bohr Topology
We prove a Ramsey-style theorem for sequences of vectors in an innnite-dimensional vector space over a nite eld. As an application of this theorem, we prove that there are countably innnite Abelian groups whose Bohr topologies are not homeomorphic.
متن کاملVan Douwen’s Problems Related to the Bohr Topology
We comment van Douwen’s problems on the Bohr topology of the abelian groups raised in his paper [31] as well as the steps in the solution of some of them. New solutions to two of the resolved problems are also given.
متن کاملTopology preservation in topographic maps
The construction of topographic models for fitting a model to the data set requires selection of appropriate values for its parameters. Since the parameters control the flexibility of the model, the generalization problem is directly related to parameter selection. This paper addresses this problem, using a novel criterion for monitoring topographic maps in which the key observation is that we ...
متن کاملOn the pointfree counterpart of the local definition of classical continuous maps
The familiar classical result that a continuous map from a space $X$ to a space $Y$ can be defined by giving continuous maps $varphi_U: U to Y$ on each member $U$ of an open cover ${mathfrak C}$ of $X$ such that $varphi_Umid U cap V = varphi_V mid U cap V$ for all $U,V in {mathfrak C}$ was recently shown to have an exact analogue in pointfree topology, and the same was done for the familiar cla...
متن کاملLawson Topology in Continuous Lattices
Let S, T be semilattices. Let us assume that if S is upper-bounded, then T is upper-bounded. A map from S into T is said to be a semilattice morphism from S into T if: (Def. 1) For every finite subset X of S holds it preserves inf of X. Let S, T be semilattices. One can check that every map from S into T which is meet-preserving is also monotone. Let S be a semilattice and let T be an upper-bou...
